EXCERPT
With a toss of her hair, she made herself
a strong cup of tea, cleared the kitchen and settled on the sofa. Just where Pramod had sat so many years ago!
“Please could you tell me whether that
lady in the yellow dress, who was shopping here at 5.30 p.m. today, is Vasudha
Mathur? The one with short hair and …”
The counter-clerk interrupted Pramod’s
sentence saying, “Oh, you mean Mrs. Mathur!
She’s our regular customer.”
“Could you tell me where she stays? I want to give her an urgent message. We were earlier working together, you see.”
Pramod had made a lame excuse of having a
severe headache and walked out of the theater after a few reels of the movie
were over.
