Better Late Than Never! - Chapter 3 An Excerpt

“Hello friends!” the man remarked pleasantly to them.  Without broaching the more serious topic which confronted them, he proceeded to chatter on about their studies, hobbies and favorite television serials.  He befriended and thoroughly disarmed them with his simplicity and charming behavior.

Even as Vibha pondered over his age, he asked Vishal, “Well, young man, do you have any girlfriends?” When Vishal blushingly said “No,” Pramod guffawed loudly.  “Very soon you’ll have girls falling over you, I bet.  But its good you’re concentrating on your studies.  You’ve your priorities right.”
Seeing Vibha lost in her thoughts, he waved his palm in front of her eyes and said “A penny for your thoughts, baby. Studying too much, I think.  Please tell me if you’ve any problems in your Maths and Science subjects.  I’ll help you out whenever possible."

After having placed their order, without any preamble, Pramod handed the rose from the vase and proposed, “Will you marry me, Vasudha?” Though not entirely unexpected, the question momentarily stunned her.
     “Are you serious Pramod?”
     “It’s a well-thought-about decision, I assure you.”

Better Late Than Never! - Chapter 1

                                                             EXCERPT

She’d been just training her eyes on the wild shock of dark curls on his head, slightly graying at the sides, when his words broke her appraisal.
“Well, well, what a good day this is!  Will someone pinch me and assure that I’m not dreaming?  Vasudha, it is you, isn’t it?  What are you doing here?  When did you shift to this city?  Why didn’t you let me know you were here?”
His volley of questions bounced off its target as Vasudha deliberately gave him a blank stare and stepped past him and walked right ahead, without a backward glance.
As his companion looked at him questioningly, Pramod stood with mouth agape, shaking his head as if in a trance.
