He had always had a yen for her.
Ever since he had spotted her at the canteen, laughing and chatting with her
friends, he had wanted to strike a conversation with her and get to know her
better. But he had been too tongue-tied. He couldn’t even talk to any one else,
leave alone her!
He had no friends hence was free to
gawk at her, at his own free will, without any hindrance, apart from the nasty
canteen-owner who would keep trying to shoo him away. After all, he couldn’t
allow anyone to occupy a precious seat for all day long, could he, especially
when that stingy lad just had tea?
