The bus was full of couples on their honeymoon. Relaxed and cheerful. Naughty and adorable. The lilting melodies from the romantic movie ‘Dil To Pagal Hai’ wafted through the sound system. Some couples just enjoyed the soothing songs, swaying their heads; while the others hummed along with the playback singers softly. Some were lost in their new, private worlds whereas the others were sleeping with their heads and shoulders touching.
As the private tour operator’s bus wound its way through the tortuous bends of Nainital’s narrow mountain roads, the scenery that rolled past was filled with the ever-green pine and elm trees, deep gorges and gurgling streams, snow-white clouds puffed like cotton strewn across a brilliant blue, clear sky and colorful wild flowers springing from the hill-sides. The chirping of the song-birds, the crisp air and the fresh mountain scent invigorated the travelers and gave wings to their rosy dreams for their future.
The bus was on the ‘Lake Tour’ of Nainital. A large number of natural lakes abound in and around this pristine hill-station. A lovers’ paradise!
