Over the next few days, Venky deliberately confronted Meenakshi and addressed her as “Madam”, even in front of the professors who raised their eyebrows disdainfully. They felt slighted. One day, Mrs. Lamba, the professor who taught Economics, lambasted him in front of the entire class. “Venkat, you really are crossing your limits. Please refrain from calling Meenakshi as “Madam”. She’s two years your junior and in the First Year. You sound quite irritating really!” Venky assumed a crest-fallen demeanor and mumbled “Sorry Ma’am,” after standing up. Everyone around him was laughing their hats off.
