On Second Thoughts...

Jatin, who had been observing all the drama unfolding at her table, from a distant table near the window, got up from his table with his partner and made his way towards her. Seeing them approaching her, Payal felt like running away in embarrassment. But she stayed put and managed to give them a small smile.

Jatin observed that her smile didn’t quite reach up to her beautiful grey eyes. The eyes that had first drawn him towards her! She looked pale and there were dark circles under her eyes. She appeared thin and unhappy; whereas he had expected her to be happy and bubbling with enthusiasm after their divorce. She had always got what she wanted. Firstly him, later their divorce!

Still, she looked hauntingly beautiful with her high pony-tail, smart blue T-shirt proclaiming “I am!” and figure hugging low-waist black jeans. She was never much into decking herself up. Just small ear-studs, a bracelet and watch, a slim chain around her neck completed her accessories.
