More two and a
half days to go, he thought, thrilled at the prospect of seeing his beloved
again. Once home, in his rented lodgings, he pulled out his wallet and looked
lovingly at her photo. Her smiling face radiated beauty in simplicity. He was
about to kiss it, but instinctively pulled back.
